LET YOUR JOURNEY BEGIN
323 Miles - BAYOU LA BATRE TO RUSSELL CROSSROADS, ON lAKE MARTIN, aLABAMA
The run will start in “Downtown” Bayou La Batre and go east to the Dauphin Island bridge. Cross over the bridge to Dauphin Island and arrive at the Mobile Bay Ferry. Board the ferry for the 3.5-mile ride across the entrance to Mobile Bay to Fort Morgan on the eastern side. (Swimming the pass is not allowed.)
The ferry from Dauphin Island leaves every 1.5 hours starting at 7:00 AM. The last trip leave DI at 6:30 PM. When runners arrive at Fort Morgan, they will follow the gulf coast and Mobile and Pensacola Bays for the next 72 miles. After reaching Gulf Shores runners follow trails through Gulf State Park for several miles. Watch for the Bald Eagles that nest in the park. Also keep an eye out for alligators.
After leaving the park, runners will continue east along Perdido Beach Blvd to the bridge over Perdido Pass.
About 2 miles past the bridge, runners cross into Florida and what may be the most famous landmark on the gulf coast, the Flora-Bama Lounge and Oyster Bar. It’s open until 2:30 AM!
