Run the Virtual SAM Race
"Virtual Smile-A-Mile Race"
The Virtual SAM race will likely replace the 2020 Run for Kids Challenge
Both races are 100% Charity Races - we accept no directors fee for either race.
It appears likely we will have to cancel the 2020 Run for Kids Challenge. We have created the "Virtual SAM Race to help offset the funds for Smile-A-Mile we would have been able to provide through the RFK. Join us May 9th for the Virtual SAM Race. Select the 10K, 50K or 12 Hours. You are welcome to run anywhere, on any surface, at any time on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. This includes running on a treadmill, running around your house, running around your block or running up a mountain. As long as you can track your run with GPS, it counts. (If you run on a treadmill, be sure "it, the treadmill" records your run and send photos and videos. Everyone running Saturday will be asked to log into Zoom at 7:00 AM and start the run "LIVE." We will send out a link about 6:30 AM to all registered runners. We will leave the Live Link to Zoom open for 12 hours for those doing the 12 Hour!
Rules/Suggestions:
1) Send us the GPS file showing your run.
2) Send photos of your run, selfies, whatever. Smile, they will be posted on the Southeastern Trail Runs FB page.
3) You run must be continuous. (If you are doing the 50K, you can't run 15.5 Miles Friday and 15.5 miles Saturday with a break for a good nights sleep in the middle.) If it takes you from 7:00 AM Saturday until 7:00 AM Sunday to finish, that's perfectly fine.
4) Run anywhere, roads, trails, carpet, etc.
5) You may run on May 8th, May 9 or May 10th.
That's it.
Registration is now open.
The Virtual SAM Race will benefit Smile-A-Mile, Alabama's Camp for Kids with cancer.
The Smile-A-Mile Mission
Smile-A-Mile’s mission is to provide hope, healing of the spirit and love for the whole family during the childhood cancer journey. Through year-round meaningful and educational programming, Smile-A-Mile helps those in Alabama who are affected by childhood cancer thrive during treatment and the years beyond. Learn what Smile-A-Mile is all about.
The Virtual SAM Race is a 100% Charity Race. We accept NO Directors fee for this race. All registration proceeds will go to Camp SAM because The Virtual Race has no expenses. Shirts and Awards are NOT included with registration. If you would like to receive a race shirt or finisher award or both, you can add them to your registration. Shipping is included with the price of the awards and shirts.
The Run for Kids Challenge does have some expenses that must come out of the Registration Fees but we try to keep them to a minimum. We serve food at all our races and RFK is not exception. The race is Catered by Logan Cook a professional caterer and trail runner. (And he cooks BBQ that is out of this world!) If you live anywhere close by, don't run the virtual race, come to the real thing.
