The Lake Martin 100, 50 & 27 Cabin Start
|
The Start - The race will start from directly in front of the Cabin at Russell Crossroads under the Southeastern Trail Runs arch. Runners will proceed down Benson Mill Road for about 100 yards, then turn left onto the walkway around the small park for another 20 yards, then angle left again following the path down the hill and into the woods below Catherine's Market. As runners come up the hill and out of the woods, follow the sidewalk to the top of the small hill, then angle right crossing the road leading to SpringHouse Restaurant. Continue onto the gravel road straight ahead. At the "Y," go to your left heading down the hill. Stay on the red gravel road all the way down the hill staying Left at two intersections with other gravel roads. As you come up a slight hill and see the Stables straight ahead watch for a path that turns right along a pasture about 50 yards before reaching the Stables. Follow the path along the pasture fence for a few hundred yards. The path will merge into another path. Angle slightly to your left and continue along the back side of the pasture. Stay on the gravel road until you see a footbridge crossing a creek on your right. You will also see a "car" bridge straight ahead on the road. Do NOT cross the bridge. Angle to your right and cross the footbridge. This is the start of the Lakeview Trail.
Parking - There is a large open area directly across from the Cabin where you may park and setup a personal aid stations. This is the large area on the map marked in green. If you arrive early, you may be able to get a spot along Benson Mill Rd. Please park straight ahead being sure your car is completely off the road. If you are setting up a personal aid station, it must also be located off the road. This is a cabin road leading back to several homes on the lake. Do not obstruct traffic in any way. If you plan to set up a personal aid station along the road, pull far enough ahead that you can set up your AS directly behind your car. Do NOT set up beside your car, along the road. This will allow more cars to park and set up Personal Aid Stations close to the course. Personal aid station may on be set up in the area marked in Green on the map below. Please review the map below.

About the CABIN AID STATION - Lake Martin doesn't have your typical aid stations. Only having two aid stations allows us to provide a level of service at every aid station stop not possible with aid stations strung out over 100 miles. During the morning hours Saturday we will have you standard assortment of race foods and drinks. We are sponsored by Tailwind so it's available start to finish at both aid stations. In the afternoon we will add hot food, soup, broth, potatoes, grilled cheese sandwiches, cheese or ham & cheese quesadillas. Starting about 10:00 PM, possibly earlier depending on the weather, we will add other hot options at the Cabin Aid Station. As runners start to finish the 100, we will begin serving a hot, fresh, breakfast with bacon, ham, eggs, cheese, waffles and more for 100 runners, family members and crew. The breakfast bar stay open with "fresh, hot" food until the final runner crosses the finish line at the 32 hour mark. Pull up a chair in front of the fire in the Cabin, warm up and have breakfast. And top it off with a Beer if you like!!
